Teddy Atlas recaps the bout from Tokyo, Japan between Kenshiro Teraji and Seigo Yuri Akui . Teraji won with a 12th-round technical knockout over Seigo Yuri Akui, unifying the WBC and WBA flyweight titles.
The bout was fiercely contested, with Akui leading on two of the three judges’ scorecards entering the final round. In the 12th round, Teraji, aware of his position on the scorecards, launched a relentless offensive. He stunned Akui with a series of precise punches, prompting the referee to intervene and stop the fight at 1:31 of the round, awarding Teraji a technical knockout victory.
